Because joy is a f***ing choice.

Permission to Play

A monthly membership.

Stop waiting until everything's done. That's never going to happen. Start feeling like yourself again, now.

All curled up in front of the TV, you can finally relax because everything is taken care of for the day.

Well, mostly.

You realize you’ve already seen this episode, so you grab your phone and start scrolling because it takes too much effort to pick something else to watch.

Yoga pants ads, perimenopause symptoms and "You can't pour from an empty cup" posts flood your feed.

And within minutes, your “relaxation time” spawns into spending $68 for tummy-tucking, butt-lifting yoga pants that’ll arrive on Tuesday and a conversation with AI about what estrogen actually does.

And when you peel yourself off the couch and head for bed, an hour later, you’re aware this time wasn’t exactly “cup-filling”.

But hey, you were sitting down so that’s a win, right?

Honestly, you feel more restless than relaxed these days, (probably because you’re getting less rest).

You’re grateful for your life and everyone in it, but you also find yourself with this twinge of dissatisfaction, wondering - is there more?

There’s a reason why those “cup filling” posts have started hitting a little closer to home. But this really isn’t about self-care, anymore.

When you’ve prided yourself on being a hard worker, someone other people can rely on to get shit done, for so long, the thought of slowing down, and putting yourself first feels scary.

 And kind of irresponsible.

But there’s a monumental issue with the belief that your work needs to be done before you’re allowed to relax. Maybe you spot the failed logic?

Work is infinite. Meaning, it’s never done. Which leaves you in a constant state of waiting, and probably why you feel a little off, like something’s missing.

Because something IS missing - time for you.

We’re not always taught how to relax and prioritize space in our lives for our passions. Instead, we learn to value effort and that hard work pays off.

But there’s a flip side.

That belief stops paying off when there’s no time left for what lights you up (no one mentioned that part). But it’s okay, because when a belief no longer serves you, you can re-write it into something else that works better. Which is pretty empowering.

What if it’s not irresponsible to do fun stuff just for you, even when the house stuff or all your work isn’t done yet?

What if the most responsible thing you could choose right now is to start pouring your energy and focus into you?

That cup filling post may be over-shared, but that’s because it’s kinda true.

I know all about overworking and trading “me time” for the shit I thought I had to get done.

I burned out doing this, with my self-worth and my work all wrapped up together.  And I don’t want you to find yourself in that same place.

I know that the shift you need starts with giving yourself permission to try something different, and that reconnection comes with using little pockets of time for art, creativity, movement and exploring new ideas.

That’s why I created my monthly membership, Permission to Play.

When I thought about when “fun” was easy and effortless, I was immediately brought back to the 90s sleepover parties of my childhood - playing Girl Talk, doing crafts and choreographing an entire Janet Jackson song.

Choice, freedom and fun. So that’s the vibe I'm bringing to this space.

One of my favorite parts of those parties was the goodie bags and so each month in Permission to Play, you'll get a Goodie bag of activities to explore.

Most activities take 15-20 minutes, so it feels totally doable and is an easy way to start to tap into that connection to yourself (even from the couch after work).

I’ve created everything for you. You just need to show up and play.

So how does it work?

  • Once you join Permission to Play, you’ll be directed to a “Start Here” section so you have immediate access to the platform and you know what to expect each month.

  • You'll also get a welcome email with the link to the platform, and some other little tips to help you navigate easily.

  • New activities arrive monthly (these are your "Goodie Bags")

  • Most of the different options in the Goodie Bags take 15 - 20 minutes, to give you a little boost of energy - perfect for when you're sitting on the couch scrolling, but wishing you were doing something other than burning braincells

  • There is a more in depth Neurographica drawing experience included each month, if you want something deeper than the shorter activities

  • You’ll get an email when the new “Goodie Bag” of activities is available each month - so you don't have to remember to check back

  • Above all - this is about YOU focusing on YOU, and feeling the difference when you prioritize that time.

When I was finding my way out of burnout, I was inspired by the words of Dr. Jodi Carrington, "Joy is a f*cking choice". This is about choosing JOY.

So what exactly is in these monthly Goodie bags?

BONUS: And as a member, you have access to the growing stash of past Goodie bag activities.

Coming for May...

May’s Goodie Bag is all about Reconnecting with Nature.

We’ll have fun seeing what insights our Tarot cards have for us, do a nature themed watercolor piece, make movement more fun by adding a little wonder and more.

Our Neurographica drawing experience will also anchor in our connection with nature.

All these activities serve to boost your energy, mindfulness, and ability to slow down and be present and reconnect with you.

Another Member BONUS:

Each month, you'll also receive a Neurographica drawing experience connected to the theme of the month.

I'll guide you through each step of the drawing, and you don't need to "be a creative person" to do this (although, I'm guessing you ARE creative, even if you don't think you are).

This experience is the perfect activity for you if you'd like to go a little deeper, spending a little more than 15 minutes on an activity, and play around with ideas in a visual way to reconnect with YOU.

You're invited to join me LIVE for these experiences, as a bonus of being a member, and you'll also have access to the replays.

Imagine, it’s after supper and instead of turning on the tv after you clear off the table, you make yourself a nice cup of tea, put on your favorite tunes, and get out your watercolors.

Not because you have to or it’s on some kind of self-care schedule. But because you want to.  And as you paint, you notice that you feel different.

Lighter and more free.

What if instead of always getting every chore done and running out of time for you (before doing it all again the next day) you slowly started to change your default?

What if you understood, first-hand, how taking time for you FUELS you, because there’s no denying how differently you feel?

You’re waking up excited about what you have planned today (that’s new) and constantly noticing even more things you’d love to do: a pottery class, a book you’ve wanted to read, explore that idea that keeps coming back to you.

Permission to Play cracks open the door and suddenly you can see her again.

The version of you that knows what she loves.
The version that makes herself proud - not just because of all the things she’s doing but who she’s becoming (and has always been).

You’ve spent so long trying to be good - responsible, doing what you’re supposed to do, and would make people proud.

And now you’re doing something that makes YOU proud. It’s like your whole body exhales and that sense of restlessness is replaced with contentment.

You deserve this. Not someday when everything’s done (because that day’s never going to arrive). Not once you’ve earned it, but now.

And it’s not about shirking your responsibilities - you’re still going to take care of those. It’s just that now you’re also making space for you, in a more intentional way than half watching a show and impulse shopping, because this is what relaxing looks like right now. 😉

If you’re ready to make prioritizing fun your default and rediscover just how energizing it is to put yourself first, join Permission to Play, now.

I'm ready.

What do past coaching clients, art class participants, and Tarot clients have to say?

Questions?

Without seeing your schedule, YES. And that's because you're in control - this isn't a course with curriculum to be completed by a certain day. You can’t fall behind - there is no behind! This is just YOU making time for yourself and if all you have space for is choosing ONE thing each month - make that be enough for now.

Neurographica is art + personal growth + psychology. It's a mindful and intuitive drawing tool which can help you play with ideas in a visual way. You don't have to think of yourself as "creative" to do it - it's more about the process than the product. Supplies are minimal for it too - just paper, a marker and something to color with.

What makes it a "bonus" is that it's a more in depth experience than the others, meaning these experiences are a bit longer. You may like that and you may not and so it's a bonus because I wanted to keep the main activities in the goodie bag short and sweet. But, sometimes you do have more time and might want to go a little deeper and the Neurographica drawing experiences are perfect for that depth.

Also, some months, these experiences will be offered LIVE as paid workshops on my website and one of the perks of being a member of Permission to Play is that you get to attend these LIVE experiences for free as part of the membership, including access to the recordings.

Absolutely. The art component is process-based art and meant for reconnection, not performance. It's about how you feel and what you gain from doing the art - more than creating a pretty picture. That being said, you probably are WAY more creative than you give yourself credit for. We lose that piece of ourselves somewhere along the way and Permission to Play can help you find it again.

In general, basic watercolor paint, paper, and brushes, a Sharpie, coloring pencils, and markers. Any other supplies will be listed with the activity and can evolve with members' requests. I've been teaching art to junior and high school students for many years, so I'm game to do all the things, depending on interest - meaning you can shape what we do each month. Just let me know what you'd like to try or see more of.

Of course. You can cancel any time, but you will lose access when you no longer have a paid subscription.

PS: I coach on all of this kind of stuff, too.
